Biography
Lawrence Webb has served as a member of the Falls Church City School Board since 2014 and was selected by the members of the board to serve as chairman for 2017. During his tenure as chairman, Lawrence has worked to strengthen ties and increase confidence with constituents by meeting with community groups to discuss school budget and facility needs openly. Also during his tenure, the school system hired a new superintendent, improved the transparency of the budget process, and collaborated with the City Council to finance a new high school project.
Lawrence has been active in education for over 15 years. He has worked as an admission officer at three universities: Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA, University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, and currently at Bowie State University in Bowie MD.
He has also served at the state level and was appointed by Governors Warner and Kaine to serve on the State Board for Correctional Education that over saw the school systems across the Commwealth in the Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice. Lawrence served as both vice chair and chair of the board and during his tenure on the board all the schools in Department of Juvenile School received their state accreditation.
Lawrence and his partner Clifton have been a part of the City of Falls Church Community for over 12 years. Lawrence has been involved in the community as a member of the Citizens for a Better City, the Parks & Recreations Board, and the Gifted ; Talented Committee for the schools. He also served a four-year term on City Council. Clifton and Lawrence have donated backpacks full of schools supplies to students in need making sure they are prepared for the start of the school for the past five years.
